R.D. Hopper has been the proprietor of Sonny’s Auto Salvage in Jacksonville, AR since 1998, when he purchased the business from Sonny Taylor, the namesake. R.D. is well known and respected by giants in the auto parts industry, as well as shade-tree mechanics because of his knowledge and passion for the auto parts and auto salvage business.
This past November, R.D. was named Secretary of the Automotive Recyclers Association (ARA) at the 70th Annual ARA Convention & Exposition in Phoenix, Arizona. R.D.’s participation will help direct the actions of the ARA, the voice of the professional automotive recycling industry, and will ultimately lead to his service as President of the ARA in 2016-17.
R.D. has also served as President of the Arkansas Automotive Dismantlers and Recyclers Association (AADRA) and is currently their Southwest Director. He also chairs the National Motor Vehicle Titling Information System (NMVTIS) work group, operating under the ARA Governmental Affairs Committee, where he works with both the state and federal legislative houses and the Department of Justice regarding the NMVTIS program.
R.D. currently serves as Justice of the Peace in Lonoke County and serves as the Chairman of the Lonoke County Economic Development Commission.
R.D has been married to his wife Jennifer for 28 years. They live in Cabot with three children and attend the Westside Church of Christ in Cabot.
